The spring equinox is here! Marking the time when the sun passes over the celestial equator, Ostara marks the coming of spring and the fertility of the land. It’s officially, seriously, spring! Night and day are equal once more. After a long and brutal winter, Ostara is a time to celebrate the coming of the sun. Ostara derives from ancient spring holidays, later Christianized into Easter; Ostara is the name of a fertility goddess where Easter also gets its name. Therefore most holidays celebrated in the spring in different cultures all involve fertility symbols such as eggs, flowers, rabbits, and seeds. They are all celebrating the coming of life back to earth. It is a time of renewal, rebirth; there is a reason it’s called “Spring Cleaning!”
Colors: Pastels like yellow, pink, blue, green

Stones: Rose Quartz, Aquamarine, Amethyst, Moonstone, Jasper
Incense: Any type of floral, Jasmine, African Violet, Rose, Sage
HOW TO CELEBRATE:
–Spring cleaning– get in those hard to reach places that escape you the rest of the year. You can bless your house while you do this or cleanse the house with sage.
–Planting seeds– this is the time to plant seeds if you’re growing a garden. A garden is a good way to be forced to stay connected to nature; it’s good to have an excuse to go outside.
–Decorating eggs– you can even bless some chocolate eggs before you eat them for an easy magickal fix.
–Nature walks- after a long winter, the earth is stirring to life. Go out and observe it. Lay in the grass, look up at the clouds. Go to a park, where you can see the beginnings of life breaking through the surface.
Ponder the ever-moving Wheel of the Year, and the joys and hardships that come with each and every turn. The all-encompassing uniqueness of life is never present more than in the observance and appreciation of the wheel turning.
We’ve officially ended our explanations in the cogs on the Wheel of the Year. Wheel of the year will now be used for any articles on paganism or witchcraft! Thank you for reading. <3
